Understanding Trauma-Informed Care
Trauma-Informed Care is Essential
Over 90% of people will experience at least one traumatic event in their lifetime, with symptoms that express themselves through physical pain, illness, and emotional discomfort. Based on these statistics, it is likely that most people you interact with have experienced trauma. Studies have shown that people experience a significant reduction in symptoms when they feel nurtured, heard, and comforted. We build a connection of trust and create an environment of safety and empowerment by including trauma-informed care in our professional and personal spaces.
Trauma-informed care acknowledges the prevalence of trauma, the factors that impact it, and the subjective nature of each person’s unique experience. This class will cover how we can provide support for individuals while taking measures to prevent re-traumatization.

Somatic Meditation Group
For Nervous System Support
A support group working with somatic meditation and body-based practices to regulate your nervous system, reconnect with yourself, and relieve symptoms of trauma, anxiety, and depression. These practices blend somatic practices with meditations from the Trauma-Conscious Yoga Method.
Somatic Therapy is the study of the relationship between the mind and body in regards to the psychological past. The theory here is that our bodies hold on to past trauma, and that trauma symptoms are due to instability in the nervous system as we separate from ourselves, our bodies, our emotions, and from the world at large. By treating the energy of the trauma through meditative practice, we can start to safely reconnect and heal.
When trauma happens, your nervous system goes into protection mode, sometimes staying there long after the danger has passed. Healing means helping your nervous system recognize what safety feels like. In this group, you will learn somatic practices for supporting the nervous system so you can release some of those protective patterns and care for the parts of you that carry your story.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
- Psychoeducation - Learn about trauma, the nervous system, and how healing happens in the body
- Self-regulation tools - Develop skills to consciously regulate your nervous system and build resilience
- Somatic practices - Explore sensations and messages the body is holding to gain deeper self-awareness and metabolize unresolved trauma
- Meditation and inner work - Practice self-study for inward reflection, compassion, and inner peace
